D ear Editor,Thank you for sharing the feature "Insights From the Armstrong Institute" by Watson, titled "The Center for Nursing Inquiry; Developing Nurse-Led Inquiry." 1 At our organization, Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, a large academic teaching hospital in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, we have integrated a Practice-based Research and Innovation (PBRI) portfolio within interprofessional clinical practice to develop inquiry and foster curiosity across all the health professions, including nursing, highlighted in a recent article in Quality Management in Healthcare. 2 As indicated by Watson, 3 education, supportive leadership, and resources are required to build a culture of inquiry that supports the engagement of our point-ofcare health professionals in evidence-based practice. At our organization, as well as across the hospital system in Canada, led by the Canadian Practice-Based Research Network (CP-BRN), a collective of health care leaders is focused on identifying approaches and leveraging resources to support clinician-led research. 3 The case studies showcased by the CP-BRN 3 are examples of programming that advance evidence-based practice across health care settings. Similar to the Center for Nursing Inquiry (CNI), our organizations offer features including (but not limited to) formalized education programs to teach research methodology from the conception of a research question through to dissemination; dedicated experienced researchers to support, coach and mentor clinicians involved in practice-based research; commitment from senior leaders to build in research and scholarship as part of clinical practice; and programming that supports opportunities to conduct research, quality improvement and scholarship.Furthermore, at Sunnybrook's PBRI, we offer a seed grant program that awards research funding to point-of-care health professionals who are principal investigators on research projects that are developed and led by them. 4 Our most recent strategic plan has been focused on downstream activities beyond capacity building, opportunities that allow trained healthThe authors declare no conflicts of interest.
