Abstract:Background
Tauopathies are neurodegenerative disorders characterized by the abnormal aggregation of tau protein in the brain. Soluble toxic tau aggregates have the ability to transfer from cell‐to‐cell and to induce newly formed aggregates in recipient cells, thereby propagating tau pathology across the brain in a prion‐like manner. We used computational modeling to identify conformational “disease‐specific” epitopes predicted to become exposed on misfolded tau aggregates. Selectivity of antibodies for tau pat… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
