Rational construction of ZnO/CuS heterostructures-modified PVDF nanofiber photocatalysts with enhanced photocatalytic activity

Abstract: The PVDF/ZnO/CuS heterostructured photocatalysts with excellent photocatalytic performance under UV and visible light irradiation were prepared by hydrothermal and ion-exchange techniques using PVDF nanofiber membranes as the substrate.

“…For example, in the CuS case, Zhang et al found that the band gap of PVDF/TiO changed from 3.4 to 2.4 eV by adding 0.05 mmol of CuS . Also, Zang et.al, found that the band gap is 3.3 eV for PVDF/CuS, which is close to ours. It is worth mentioning here that we added a very small amount of PVDF (10%) that changes the energy band gap to 3.07 where the band gap of pVDF is 5.66 eV, as mentioned in the text.…”

“…Innovative photocatalysts composed of PVDF/ZnO/CuS were developed using electrospinning, hydrothermal treatment, and ion exchange techniques with the purpose to address the issue of particle aggregation in an aqueous environment (Zang et al 2022 ). These photocatalysts demonstrated excellent stability during recycling and reuse.…”
