Rapid Prototyping Mandible Model for Dental Implant Surgery Simulation

Abstract: CAD tools are becoming increasingly powerful today. They provide users with more efficiency and improve the overall performance of design activities. CAD software publishers include specific tools that are dedicated to knowledge management in order to achieve this design performance and significant savings. The use of these tools and certain functions is nevertheless context-oriented. A decisional model for the use of knowledgeware has therefore been developed here, and the application of knowledgeware in diff… Show more

“…A profile line was drawn from the peripheral host bone, across the defect area to the other side of the defect boundary. The gray values on the profile line were shown in a curve diagram, which were in proportional to the bone mineral density (in a scale from 0 to 255) [52]. The percentage of the increase of bone density in the scaffold comparing to host bone was calculated as: (gray value in scaffold - gray value in host bone)/gray value in host bone (technical replicates n = 6).…”

“…Usually, such a process is called rapid prototyping (RP) since it can be performed at high speed. Stereolithography, 3D printing, fused deposition modelling (including inkjet printing and jetted photopolymer) and laminated object manufacturing are the representative RP manufacturing methods [4,5,6,7,8,9]. Recently, high performance RP machines are on the market from several companies [10].…”
