Rapid Improvement in Neck Disability, Mobility, and Sleep Quality with Chronic Neck Pain Treated by Fu’s Subcutaneous Needling: A Randomized Control Study

Abstract: Background. Chronic neck pain is a common musculoskeletal disorder caused by overuse of neck and upper back muscles or poor posture, and it is commonly combined with a limited range of motion in the neck and shoulders. Most cases will recover within a few days; however, the symptoms often recur easily. Fu’s subcutaneous needling (FSN) is a new therapeutic approach used to treat patients with chronic neck pain. However, there is no solid evidence to support the effectiveness of FSN on chronic neck pain and disa… Show more

“…Moreover, there are many pain related journals, which indicates that acupuncture intervention on pain is being widely studied. [60][61][62][63][64][65][66][67][68][69][70][71][72] But the top productive journals on acupuncture for CP's average IF is not high (4.19). Therefore, the international influence of research on acupuncture for CP is relatively insufficient.…”

“…[7] FSN therapy has a reliable effect in reducing pain, especially musculoskeletal problems. [8][9][10][11][12] However, so far, there is no report of FSN for TN. In this case report, we presented 2 cases of TN patients who have persist pain after the surgery of MVD.…”

“…Fu's subcutaneous needling (FSN), originating from Chinese acupuncture and dry needling has emerged as a popular treatment technique, but studies are largely limited to the treatment of myofascial trigger point (MTrP)-induced musculoskeletal disorders. [7][8][9] From the perspective of FSN, the limb muscles can impact neighboring tissues and organs, including the respiratory system smooth muscles, leading to clinical manifestations such as chronic cough, asthma, shortness of breath, and breathing difficulties. [10] The use of FSN for respiratory problems is a new issue and few studies have been conducted so far.…”
