Rapid discrimination of malignant lesions from normal gastric tissues utilizing Raman spectroscopy system: a meta-analysis

Abstract: RAS is an objective and sensitive optical diagnostic technology for detecting gastric cancer and has advantages of being noninvasive to the body, real-time diagnosis, and ease of use. Consequently, it does deserve to be recommended.

“…The meta-analysis provided evidence for good diagnostic accuracy of RAS in differentiating breast lesions, with the overall AUC being 0.98 (95% CI 0.97–0.99). It was in agreement with the recent meta-analysis [ 10 ]. We detected obvious heterogeneity within all pooled studies, so we performed subgroup analyses in order to investigate the potential factors that influence the heterogeneity and diagnostic accuracy.…”

“…We detected obvious heterogeneity within all pooled studies, so we performed subgroup analyses in order to investigate the potential factors that influence the heterogeneity and diagnostic accuracy. The type of sample (in or ex vivo) was suggested to be put into consideration by a previous meta-analysis [ 10 ]. Nevertheless, we were not able to analyze it because only one study with 30 samples performed in vivo was included.…”

“…Furthermore, the Spearman correlation coefficient was computed to explore the threshold effect. [27] Moreover, we used Egger linear regression tests to assess risk of publication bias with P < .05 for the coefficient slopes implying significantly asymmetry. [28]…”

“…RS has been shown to be highly sensitive to tissue changes. [9][10][11] Additionally, molecular level changes can be detected by RS. Therefore, RS can be used for the early diagnosis of oral cancer, and it has obvious advantages over traditional pathology and imaging systems.…”
