Rapid discovery of absorbed constituents and metabolites in rat plasma after the oral administration of Zi Shen Wan using high‐throughput UHPLC–MS with a multivariate analysis approach

Abstract: Zi Shen Wan is a typical formula consisting of three herbs, Phellodendri Amurensis Cortex, Rhizoma Anemarrhenae, and Cortex Cinnamomi, and has been widely used for treating prostatitis and infection diseases. However, it lacks in-depth research of the constituents of Zi Shen Wan in vivo and in vitro. In this work, ultra high performance liquid chromatography coupled with quadrupole-time-of-flight mass spectrometry and MassLynx software was established to characterize the chemical compositions of Zi Shen Wan in… Show more

“…Due to lack of in‐depth component analysis, its clinical application is limited to a large extent. Li et al () adopted the UPLC‐MS platform to demonstrate the chemical composition of Zishen Wan; ninety‐two compounds were characterized, among them, 59 constituents came from Phellodendri Amurensis Cortex, 25 from Anemarrhenae Rhizoma, and 8 from Cinnamomi Cortex.…”

“…However, most studies of network pharmacology have gathered compounds from databases to explore action mechanisms. Previous studies have proved that the main active constituents are probably the components and metabolites absorbed or metabolized into the blood after administration (Li, Zhang, Sun, et al, ). Therefore, the absorbed components in vivo were selected to perform network pharmacology analysis to overcome this problem.…”
