Rapid Detection of Tetracycline Residues in Duck Meat Using Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy

Abstract: A rapid detection method based on surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) was proposed in this paper in order to realize the detection of tetracycline residues in duck meat. Firstly, surface enhanced Raman spectra characteristics of tetracycline aqueous solution, duck meat extract, and duck meat extract containing tetracycline were analyzed. Secondly, the effect of the addition amount of duck meat extract containing tetracycline on SERS intensity and the effect of the adsorption time on SERS intensity were … Show more

“…The characteristic peaks of tetracycline hydrochloride (C22H24N2O8) at low concentrations were detected in good agreements with SERS spectra of tetracycline reported in the literature [14][15][16][17][18][19]. Tetracycline is a derivative of naphthacene according to the complicated chemical structure of tetracycline (Figure7a).…”

“…LC‐MS/MS (Anderson et al., 2018; Ang et al., 2017; Furi et al., 2018; Mookantsa et al., 2016), LC with UV detection (Alrhia et al., 2019; Aman et al., 2017; Feng et al., 2016; Gogoi et al., 2017; Ma et al., 2020; Patrabansh et al., 2020), and LC coupled to FLD (Weng et al., 2019) have been the most used for this purpose. However, others methods based on surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS; Zhao et al., 2016) and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) using glassy carbon electrode modified with gold NPs (Palisoc et al., 2019) have been also described. Table 3 includes the most representative studies published dealing with the determination of TCs extracted from meat samples.…”

“…It should be also stated that other determination techniques, such as electrophoretic‐based techniques (Lorenzetti, Lista, & Domini, 2019), Raman spectroscopy (J. Zhao et al., 2016), ELISA (Baghani, Mesdaghinia, Rafieiyan, Soltan Dallal, & Douragui, 2019), and voltammetric techniques (Palisoc, De Leon, Alzona, Racines, & Natividad, 2019) have been also employed to determine antibiotics in meat tissues, although their use is less common.…”

“…7,8 Hence, the identication and remediation of these environmental pollutants should be prioritized. The traditional methods for the detection of TC involve chromatographic, 11 spectroscopic, 10 and microbial 9 measurements, which are inef-cient since they are time consuming, inaccurate and require prototype pre-tests that ultimately increase the overall cost. [12][13][14][15] The typical techniques for the removal of tetracycline include biological degradation, ion exchange, degradation by photocatalysis, and membrane ltration and adsorption.…”
