Rapid assessment of adhesion of paint coatings by digital image analysis

Abstract: A program is developed that allows to numerically assess the area of defects in protective coatings by analyzing digital images of surfaces. The program is implemented in Microsoft Visual Studio programming environment. The possibility of estimating the area of flaking of the paint coating from the base layer (%) and determining the adhesion in points, in accordance with the cross-cut test method in the context of paint production is shown. The created program does not require a large computing power of the co… Show more

“…This makes it possible to fill cells -pores with dispersed powders for various purposes and provide specified functional properties of the formed coatings. The total surface porosity of the film, determined using the ADID software [26], was 30%. The results of dispersion analysis of the MoS2 powder are shown on the histogram (Fig.…”

“…A tape with a certain adhesion is then applied to the test site and peeled off. The obtained trace is compared with the standard [19]. This allows us to determine the quality of the adhesive bond of the coating.…”
