Abstract: Background Glutaraldehyde (GA)-fixed autologous tissues, including the pericardium, are widely used as patches and valve substitutes in cardiovascular surgery. However, GA treatment causes tissue calcification. No rapid anticalcification method has been established for use during surgery.
