Rapid and simultaneous determination of histidine metabolism intermediates in human and mouse microbiota and biomatrices

Abstract: Histidine metabolism is a key pathway physiologically involved in satiety, recognition memory, skin, and neural protection and allergic diseases. Microbiologicallyproduced imidazole propionate induces type II diabetes and interferes with glucose lowering drugs. Despite their determinant health implications, no single method simultaneously assesses histidine metabolites in urine, feces, and microbiota. The aim of this study was to develop a simple, rapid, and sensitive method for the determination of histidine … Show more

“…Enrichment of such cellular and genetic processing pathways suggests active cellular activity in Bengali populations. On the other hand, histidine is essential for muscle carnosine synthesis, and its metabolism is associated with physical endurance, recognition memory, neural protection, satiety, and allergic diseases 101,102 . The presence of this metabolic pathway in the Chakma and Marma tribes’ samples indicates that SCFAs play an essential role in the metabolism of their diet ( Fig.…”

“…Metabolites that decreased in the human feces and this murine model include N-acetylhistamine and ethylmalonate. N-acetylhistamine is a gut microbial-derived metabolite of histidine metabolism and can act as a stimulant of gastric secretion [ 73 ]. High levels of ethylmalonate observed in the rice bran group mice may indicate improved fatty acid transport associated with rice bran.…”

“…Histidine (His) is a nutritionally essential amino acid and plays a unique role in many physiological processes. His metabolism is a key physiologically pathway involved in the skin, recognition memory, neural protection, and allergic and kidney diseases. , The metabolites, such as histamine (Hi), imidazole-4-acetate (IMA), N -acetylhistamine ( N -acetylHi), and imidazole propionate (IMP), are all strong physiological active substances and possible neurotransmitters. Abnormal levels of His and these metabolites may be at risk for many diseases .…”
