Rapid Access to Triarylated Cyclotriveratrylenes from Threefold Couplings of CTV‐I3 with Triarylbismuth Reagents

Abstract: As eries of C 3 -symmetric triiodocyclotriveratrylene (CTV-I 3 )d erivatives have been successfully arylated to afford the corresponding triarylcyclotriveratrylene derivatives in high yields by using triarylbismuth compoundsa sthreefold coupling reagents under palladium-catalyzed conditions. This functionalization is valuable in the context of the development of new synthetica nd coupling studies to rapidly access cyclotriveratrylene molecular skeletons with rigid and deeper cavities.Scheme1.Synthesis of CTV-I… Show more

“…224 More recently, Rao greatly contributed to expanding the scope of substrates that can be used in cross-coupling reactions with organobismuth reagents. For instance, his group developed procedures to cross-couple triarylbismuthines with aryl iodides, triflates and bromides, 225 halogenated furans, 226 thiophenes 227 and benzofurans, 228 iodochromones, 229 bromo and trifluoromethanesulfonyloxy coumarins, 230 chlorocoumarins, 231 bromoquinones, 232 halobenzaldehydes, 233 bromochromones, 234 chloroquinolines and chloro/iodo pyridines, 235 bromotrifloxycoumarins 236 and CTV-I 3 237 (Scheme 39 B). We reported in 2016 protocols to cross-couple highly functionalized triarylbismuthines with various electrophiles such as aryl iodides and bromides, iodofurans, chloro-and bromopyridines, chloropyrimidines, pyrazines and pyridazines.…”
