“…Furthermore, G. biloba extract EGb 761 had a lower rate of adverse events than its comparator pentoxifylline. This finding was supported by another parallel group RCT showing that 240 mg G biloba extract EGb 761 significantly improved self-perception of tinnitus loudness and severity after 90 days of treatment in patients with hearing loss (Procházková et al, 2018;Nishad et al, 2019;Radunz et al, 2020). In an earlier RCT of 60 patients with chronic tinnitus, Morgenstern and Biermann demonstrated that 160 mg/day G biloba extract EGb 761 subsequent to 10-day G. biloba extract EGb 761 infusion resulted in significant change in tinnitus volume compared to placebo (Morgenstern and Biermann, 2002).…”

“…Procházková et al ( Procházková et al, 2018 ) in a recent double-blind randomized trial of 200 subjects with sub-chronic or chronic tinnitus who received either G. biloba Egb 761 extract or pentoxifylline over 12 weeks found significant improvement in all tinnitus questionnaires used. Nishad et al ( Nishad et al, 2019 ) evaluated the effect of treatment with a single intravenous injection of caroverine and G. biloba extract (60 mg twice a day) in 86 patients with tinnitus. They found that a single dose infusion of caroverine immediately improved tinnitus in 54.5% of the patients, but the improvement was not sustained at a 3-6 months follow-up.…”

“…The yearly trend in major drug prescriptions has been decreasing for blood circulation agents and increasing for tinnitus agents and vertigo agents. The main ingredient in tinnitus agents is Ginkgo biloba, which is a CAM drug that research suggests is effective in treating tinnitus [ 35 , 36 ]. Moreover, because Ginkgo biloba is used to treat tinnitus, it can also be classified as a vasodilator [ 37 ].…”
