Raman spectra of apatites: La10−x Si6−y (Al,Fe)y O26±δ

Abstract: 5 O 26 were investigated in the range 80-1000 K and 80-623 K, respectively. Tentative assignments of bands to stretching and bending modes of SiO 4 tetrahedra and to M'O vibrations are proposed. Except for the two new bands, which appear around 700 cm −1 when Al is replaced by Fe, only some band broadenings and relative intensity changes are observed as a function of the rate of O5 or La vacancies. Most of the bands soften and broaden continuously when raising the temperature. This is an indication that the Al… Show more

“…The results of Raman spectra showed that when basicity increased from 0. 38 slags, but addition of 10 mass% MgO had no effect on foam stability. Whereas Fruehan et al 9) thought that foam life increased with increasing MgO.…”

“…The most intense IR bands of BiCaLa 3 (GeO 4 )O (3758, 456, 398, and 185 cm À 1 ) are assigned to stretching and deformation modes of the GeO 4 group [29]. The observed broadening of the bands and relative changes in the absorption intensity of the IR spectra of the mixed germanate-vanadates crystals are indicative of their structural disorder [15,30].…”

“…The Raman spectra clearly show a two-mode behavior [30]: the lines of GeO 4 and VO 4 are separated from each other, and the (V/Ge)O 4 tetrahedra in the structure exhibit a quasi-independent behavior.…”

“…Lucazeau et al 115 have made a thorough study of the Raman spectra of eight apatites with the general formula La 10 x Si 6 y (Al,Fe) y O 26šυ . Assignments of bands to stretching and bending modes of SiO 4 tetrahedra and to the metal-oxygen vibrations were reported.…”
