Abstract: Atherosclerosis is driven partly by inflammation, mediated mainly by pro-inflammatory mediators/cytokines. Previous studies have revealed the role of HMGB1, a prototypic DAMP (damage-associated molecular pattern) molecule, in atherogenesis.
