“…No commercially available solution currently exists to allow continuous recording of ICP, with one common solution being to use a Codman Express for ICP measurement and an ADInstruments PowerLab and LabChart software on a PC for data acquisition, visualisation and recording. A relationship between head elevation and ICP has been shown previously in the context of TBI patients (Lee 1989, Feldman et al 1992, Winkelman 2000, Fan 2004, Ng et al 2004, and whilst of limited value in TBI, knowledge of patient posture in addition to ICP can provide useful additional information to support clinical decision making (Poca et al 2006, Lam et al 2011, Andresen et al 2014, Farahmand et al 2014. Clinical experience in this centre is that it is useful to know when a pressure event is related to a change in posture or may have a pathophysiological origin.…”

“…Clinical experience in this centre is that it is useful to know when a pressure event is related to a change in posture or may have a pathophysiological origin. Knowledge of symptoms has also been of benefit in highlighting relationships between instances of visual disturbance, nausea or headache during periods of abnormal (or normal) ICP (Lam et al 2011, Mokri 2013, Graff-Radford and Schievnik 2014, Ducros and Biousse 2015. Textual data can aid in patient management (Signorini et al 1997), and the use of multimodality monitoring of patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) and the subsequent collection and analysis of such data are increasing.…”
