Raise and characterization of a bread wheat hybrid line (Tulaykovskaya 10 × Saratovskaya 29) with chromosome 6Agi2 introgressed from Thinopyrum intermedium

Abstract: Wheatgrass Thinopyrum intermedium is a source of agronomically valuable traits for common wheat. Partial wheat–wheatgrass amphidiploids and lines with wheatgrass chromosome substitutions are extensively used as intermediates in breeding programs. Line Agis 1 (6Agi2/6D) is present in the cultivar Tulaykovskaya 10 pedigree. Wheatgrass chromosome 6Agi2 carries multiple resistance to fungal diseases in various ecogeographical zones. In  this work, we studied the transfer of chromosome 6Agi2 in hybrid populations S… Show more

“…Over the last 5 years, the significance of Pst has increased markedly in other Russian regions. The disease has appeared in the regions North-West [18], West Siberia [19], Volga [20] and Central Chernozem regions [21]. Global climate changes contribute to changes in disease incidence and severity.…”

“…Dewey; 2n = 6x = 42) is an important worldwide forage crop and a valuable gene reservoir for wheat improvement [1][2][3]. It has contributed many desirable traits such as resistance to three wheat rust diseases (leaf, stem, and stripe rust), barley yellow dwarf virus (BYDV), and wheat streak mosaic virus (WSMV), and grain quality for wheat improvement [3][4][5][6][7][8]. The IWG has also been developed into a perennial grain crop, named "Kernza" [9][10][11].…”

“…However, significance of Pst remarkably increased over the last 5 years. The disease has appeared regularly in other Russian regions (North-West, West Siberia, Volga, and Central Black Earth) [29][30][31]. Global climate changes contribute to alteration of the disease incidence and severity.…”
