RAID level selection for heterogeneous disk arrays

Abstract: Heterogeneous Disk Arrays (HDAs) allow resource sharing of their hardware by multiple RAID levels. RAID1 (mirrored disks) and RAID5 (distributed parity arrays) are the two RAID levels considered in this study.
