Ragam Bahasa Istilah Perkeretaapian dan Transportasi Rel di Indonesia: Analisis Proses Morfologis

Abstract

In various aspects of social life, there are many varieties of language used. One of them is the variety of languages used in all types of public transportation, one of which is the train. The emergence of terms used in rail transportation, especially trains, is an effort to make it easier for people who work in the realm of rail transportation to communicate more quickly and efficiently. This creates a new language variety that is usually only known by a handful of people who work in the field of rail transportation and sometimes causes confusion for ordinary people. Therefore, this study aims to provide a description of the morphological process regarding the variety of language terms used in the realm of railways. This research is a descriptive qualitative research. The data source is taken from a collection of terms used in railways and rail transportation derived from literature such as books, magazines, thesaurus and KBBI Online, using the literature study method. Qualitative data analysis techniques used the Miles and Huberman model through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing (Sugiyono, 2018) based on the theory of morphological processes from (Carstairs-McCharty, 2002). The results of the analysis show that the morphological processes that exist in various terms used in railways and rail transportation are quite diverse including abbreviations, acronyms, affixation, and blending.
