Radiofrequency Pulmonary Vein Isolation without Esophageal Temperature Monitoring: Contact-Force Characteristics and Incidence of Esophageal Thermal Damage

Abstract: Esophageal thermal lesions following pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) for atrial fibrillation (AF) potentially harbor lethal complications. Radiofrequency (RF)-PVI using contact force-technology can reduce collateral damage.
