Radiochemical Determination of the (n, 2n) and [(n, np) + (n, pn) + (n, d)] Gross Sections of 106Cd at 14.4 MeV

Abstract: With radiochemical separations of "'Ag from irradiated natural Cd targets at various times after the and of irradiation and with Ge(Li) detection, the ratio of the cross sections of the "«Cd[(n, np) + (n, pn) + (n, d)]i»5Ag and "«Cd(n,2n)i«5Cd reactions was determined to be 0.220 + 0.023 which is independent of the decay scheine of "'Ag and of the counting efficiency of the detector.
