“…We would however be unable to agree that the follow-up of the implants used for RC arthroplasty can now be considered to be 'short'. 4 Our review of the literature confirmed that the results of only two RC joint arthroplasty systems has been reported over the past 20 years, the Uni-Elbow Radio Capitellum system (formerly Small Bone Innovations, Morrisville, PA, USA now Stryker, Kalamazoo, MI, USA) and the Lateral Resurfacing Elbow (LRE) system (formerly Biomet Ltd, UK, now LREsystem Ltd, Oxford, UK), developed by the senior author.…”

“…Kachooei et al reported the 'short-term' to mid-term results of 19 elbows in which RC joint prosthetic arthroplasty had been performed using either the Uni-Elbow or LRE system. 4 However, as they used the LRE in 15 patients and the Uni-Elbow in only 3 patients, in 2 of whom the Uni-Elbow was used as a revision arthroplasty, a comparison cannot be made between the results of the two different implant systems used in this series. Nevertheless, they concluded that elbow arthritis seems to become stationary after RC PA and that symptomatic RC joint arthritis would probably benefit from RC PA regardless of the aetiology.…”

“…64 This study also showed good functional outcomes including decreased postoperative pain and improved stability and function of the elbow. 64 Giannicola et al found implant survival at 22.6 months of 100%. 62 There is, at this point, limited published data on capitellar resurfacing.…”

“…13,62,64 For example, Kachooei et al, in a study of 19 elbows with a mean follow-up of 35 months, showed no major complications and a survival of 100%. 64 This study also showed good functional outcomes including decreased postoperative pain and improved stability and function of the elbow. 64 Giannicola et al found implant survival at 22.6 months of 100%.…”
