Radical Scavenging and Catalytic Activity of Fe-Cu Bimetallic Nanoparticles Synthesized from Ixora finlaysoniana Extract

Abstract: Iron–copper bimetallic nanoparticles (Fe-Cu BNPs) were prepared via a green synthesis route. Ixora finlaysoniana has been used in this study as a capping and stabilizing agent in the modification of Fe-Cu BNPs. As-synthesized BNPs were characterized using different techniques including UV/Vis spectrophotometry, FTIR, XRD and SEM. A particle size analyzer and SEM studies indicated the particle size to be in the range of 50–200 nm. In addition, degradation of MB dye in an aqueous system and radical-scavenging po… Show more

“…The antioxidant capacity of the BNPs was studied in terms of their free radical scavenging potential using a 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) assay [38,39]. Ten milliliters of DPPH (200, 400, and 600 ppm) were taken in three separate flasks and 90 mL of distilled water was added.…”

“…The transmittance at 3095.27 cm −1 appeared to be due to the presence of the hydroxyl group and C-H group stretching present in beta-amyrin and cholesterol in the gazania extract [43]; the value at 1662.63 cm −1 is due to N-H bending by alkaloids containing amino groups also present in the gazania extract. Additionally, carboxylic acid (-COOH), existing on the boundaries of Cu-Ni BNPs, displays a peak at 859.15 cm −1 ; the peak at 1054.51 cm −1 indicates the C-O-C attached to BNPs [39], while the peak appearing at 602.95 cm −1 is possibly associated with metal-carbon linkage [44].…”

“…In recent years, green synthesis has attained much more attention than chemical synthesis [11]. Various plant extracts have already been employed to prepare ZnO 2 of 13 NPs [12][13][14][15][16][17].…”

“…[11][12][13] The electrical properties of nano-crystalline lithium metal phosphate materials depend on the synthesis scheme, annealing atmosphere, concentration, and nature of the dopant. [14][15][16] LiMPO 4 exhibits low electronic conductivity (10 À10 to 10 À9 S cm À1 ) at room temperature and high electrical resistivity. 17,18 Owing to low ionic conductivity and high resistivity LiMPO 4 can be deliberated as an appropriate substitute for application in microwave devices.…”

“…Low dielectric losses of LiMPO 4 materials have presented them as a suitable and prospective candidate in electric field tunable device applications 11‐13 . The electrical properties of nano‐crystalline lithium metal phosphate materials depend on the synthesis scheme, annealing atmosphere, concentration, and nature of the dopant 14‐16 . LiMPO 4 exhibits low electronic conductivity (10 −10 to 10 −9 S cm −1 ) at room temperature and high electrical resistivity 17,18 .…”
