The spin-isospin vibration mode of the A=12 system 1s studied in the radiative pion capture by adopting the continuum shell model. The calculated spectra with strong excitation of the 1· state at 22.5 MeV and the 2· states at 18.9 MeV and 21.3 MeV, are in good agreement with the recent experiment. These 2-states are interpreted as the spin-isospin vibration mode, while the 1· at 22.5 MeV provides both the spin-isospin and isospin modes.1and 2states by adopting the nuclear shell model with configurations of 1-hw excitation. At the same time we treat the resonances and the quasi-free emission of nucleons consistently by adopting the continuum shell model (CSM) ." 0 '~2 3 ! This is quite important when we want to compare the theory with the experiment directly.w To calculate the pion capture rates, we adopt the formalism given in Refs. 20) and 24), which will be summarized briefly in § 2.In the continuum shell model, we encounter a difficult problem to eliminate the spurious components associated with the excitation of nuclear center-of-mass motion from the nuclear wave function, 25 )' 26 l and practically we are forced to abandon this by guest on August 16, 2015 http://ptp.oxfordjournals.org/ Downloaded from by guest on August 16, 2015 http://ptp.oxfordjournals.org/ Downloaded from
