Abstract-A novel reconfigurable plasma corner reflector antenna is proposed to better collimate the energy in forward direction operating at 2.4GHz. Implementation of a low cost plasma element permits beam shape to be changed electrically. The maximum measured gains are 5.7dBi, 10.8dBi and 10.5dBi for the omnidirectional, single and double beam shapes respectively.Index Terms-Corner reflector antenna, plasma corner reflector antenna, plasma antenna, reconfigurable antenna, reconfigurable plasma antenna.

The problem of side lobe suppression (SLS) in printed antenna arrays has been investigated in the paper. Influence of several factors that make difficult design and realization of antenna arrays with relatively high SLS has been analyzed. We introduced a new type of printed antenna array with symmetrical pentagonal dipoles and symmetrical tapered feed network with Chebyshev distribution enabling SLS better than 34 dB in E-plane. Agreement between simulated and measured results is very good. The antenna is suitable for integration with other microwave circuits. Presented antenna is low cost and very simple for realization.

The comer-reflector antenna excited by a tilted dipole is analysed in detail using the method of images. Expressions for the far-zone electric and magnetic fields, applicable to any point in space and to any corner angle equal to 1$O°/N, where TV is a positive integer, are given in concise and compact forms. Conditions for circular polarisation are obtained not only for the broadside direction, but also for any direction in the azimuth and elevation planes. A systematic method for calculating the driving-point impedance is presented, together with numerical results for the case when the excited element is a half-wavelength dipole.
