“…To validate our own calculation, NEC of water and air at atmospheric pressure with a plasma radius R P = 1 mm are compared with previous published data in figure 2. There is good agreement with the work of Naguizadeh et al [29] for air and Riad et al [31,32] for water except at low temperature in this last case. This discrepancy is explained by the molecular continuum (O 2 , OH, H 2 O, HO 2 and O 3 ) and molecular bands (O 2 ) which were not taken into account in the 1 0 1 5 2 0 2 5 3 0 10 calculation performed by Riad et al From this comparison, it is also evident that the molecular contribution to the NEC of H 2 O is dominant at low temperature before complete dissociation (T < 7000 K).…”

“…This work is devoted to the calculation of NEC values as a function of temperature, pressure and plasma radius for H 2 Oair-alkaline salts (MgCl 2 /CaCl 2 /NaCl) mixtures. Present calculations for air and water have been validated from the comparison with previous works performed by Naguizadeh et al [28,29] and Riadh et al [30][31][32]. It has been established that the presence of a weak concentration (less than 1%) of alkaline salt in the plasma is responsible for a strong increase in the NEC at low temperature.…”
