Radiation Effects in Flow through Porous Medium over a Rotating Disk with Variable Fluid Properties

Abstract: The present study investigates the radiation effects in flow through porous medium over a permeable rotating disk with velocity slip and temperature jump. Fluid properties density(ρ), viscosity(μ), and thermal conductivity(κ)are taken to be dependent on temperature. Particular case considering these fluid properties’ constant is also discussed. The governing partial differential equations are converted into nonlinear normal differential equation using similarity alterations. Transformed system of equations is … Show more

“…The flow affected by the horizontal magnetic field, and all the above assumptions of the governing equations in the cylindrical coordinate system, lead to the following expressions (see Mackolil and Mahanthesh [ 12 ], Khan et al [ 26 ] and Turkyilmazoglu [ 36 ]): where represents the radiative heat flux. Using Rosseland approximation (see Jain and Bohra [ 39 ]) is expressed as follows: …”

“…This area of research was initially explored by Kármán 1 in which he proposed a similarity transformation for flows over a rotating disk. Some of the recent research in this area focused on the flow of different non‐Newtonian fluids under various flow conditions 2–8 …”

“…Ara et al 15 considered the exponentially shrinking sheet to investigate the Eyring‐Powell fluid flow under the influence of thermal radiation. Jain and Bohra 8 explored the thermal radiation effect on the viscous fluid flow over a rotating disk. Recently, Mustafa et al 7 have presented the effect of nonlinear radiation on swirling flow due to rotating disk.…”

“…The radiation effect has an important role in the context of space technology and in the processes involving high temperatures. Jain and Bohra [17,18] studied fluid flow and heat transfer over a rotating disk and rotating channel through a porous medium with radiation effect and in different conditions. Abbas et al [19] analyzed the radiation effect on a laminar MHD viscous fluid flow over a stretching cylinder in porous medium.…”
