“…Modifiable risk factors for the observed disparity in early childhood obesity in Latino children include non-exclusive breast-feeding, consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages and quantities of both screen time and sleep (14,17,(30)(31)(32)(33) . Change in WLZ 0·522 0·37, 0·67 0·656 0·51, 0·80 0·433 0·28, 0·59 0·574 0·41, 0·74 WLZ, weight-for-length Z-score; n, number of children; N, number of observations.…”

Obesity is defined as a body mass index (BMI) $30 and overweight as a BMI $25 in adults.…”

“…Longitudinal studies are needed to determine the role that household food insecurity plays in the development of child obesity and if food insecurity contributes to the disparities that disproportionately affect lowincome Hispanic communities. 20,55 As policy makers aim to prevent early obesity, it may be important to both decrease the overall rates of food insecurity and reduce controlling feeding styles in families who remain food insecure. As the pediatric community aims to reduce early toxic stress that affects many low-income children, 40 WIC may serve as an opportune place for family interventions focusing on reducing sources of stress.…”
