Race, Socioeconomic Status, and the Subjective Well-Being of Older Americans

Abstract: Causal examination of factors influencing life satisfaction among older Americans can provide knowledge important to social policy development. Using rotated factor analysis, this study isolates two dimensions of life satisfaction, labeled happiness and morale, using data from the 1981 Harris survey on aging.
