Rabi resonance in coherent population trapping: microwave mixing scheme

Abstract: Coherent population trapping (CPT) resonance signals have promise in a wide range of applications involving precision sensing. Generally, the CPT phenomenon occurs in a three-level Λ system with a bichromatic phase-coherent light fields. We theoretically and experimentally studied an Rb vapor-cell-based atomic system involving bichromatic CPT optical fields and an external microwave (MW) field simultaneously. In such a mixing scheme, the coherence of the ground states could be controlled either by the Rabi fre… Show more

“…an EIT on CH1 converts to an EIA signal, and vice versa. The signal amplitude oscillates periodically [28][29][30], with a period (z p ) half of the ground-state hyperfine transition wavelength (λ hf ), i.e. z p = λ hf /2, which is approximately 22 mm for 87 Rb atoms.…”

“…The Δ system experimentally reliable either with 85 or 87 atoms at room temperature using a microwave cavity [14][15][16][17]. Most of the studies on the Δ system have concentrated on the ground state coherence (GSC) that could either be controlled by the Rabi frequency of the microwave field (MW) Ω or by the resultant phase of the optical fields and the MW field [13,14,17,22]. Even in those experiments, the amplification of the probe signal is engineered by the two parameters Ω and .…”
