“…Due to the lack of tools specifically for self‐disgust in patients with cancer, researchers used the self‐disgust scale (SDS; Overton, Markland, Taggart, Bagshaw, & Simpson, 2008) to measure the self‐disgust caused by cancer (Azlan et al., 2017a, 2017b). However, recent studies have shown that the newly developed QASD is more accurate than SDS in terms of factor construction, sample composition, and item settings (Ille et al., 2014; Jin, Li, Gutiénez‐Colón & Jiménez‐Herrera, 2020; Powell, Overton, & Simpson, 2014; Schienle et al., 2014). Therefore, we used the QASD and to ensure the patients refer the items to the situation of stoma, we specifically marked the instruction at the beginning of the questionnaire ‘please focus on the feeling under the stoma rather than other diseases’.…”

“…Self-disgust can be regarded as a personality factor (Overton et al, 2008) and a specific self-concept (Jin, Li, et al, 2020;Powell et al, 2015). According to personality neuroscience (Kanayama et al, 2017;Morita et al, 2021) and the multiple aspects self-theory (Walla et al, 2021), the human self has a neurophysiological basis.…”

“…Physical self-disgust refers to a feeling of disgust in the self, reflecting a negative assessment and the feeling of enduring characteristics of oneself, while behavioral self-disgust represents a negative evaluation of and feeling regarding one's actions (Overton et al, 2008;Powell et al, 2016). To some degree, physical and behavioral self-disgust are mutually independent (Jin, Li, et al, 2020).…”
