“…For the OAQ, mice were fed with heat‐treated AIN‐93G diet supplemented with 0.08% quercetin as described earlier. The above dosage for quercetin was chosen based on findings by the authors as well as other groups . During the 16‐week dietary intervention, mice were free to access diet and water.…”

“…In vitro and in vivo studies reported the neuroprotective role of quercetin against Aβ toxicity, showing that this polyphenol determined cell viability increase with a reduction in neuronal oxidative stress [81]. Quercetin seems to inhibit the Aβ plaque aggregation and the formation of neurofibrillary tangles probably increasing the levels of apolipoprotein E, that has a key role in the clearance of Aβ [82]. A study performed in a triple transgenic mouse model of AD showed that quercetin, after three months treatment, was able to reduce the amount of the β-amyloid fibers with improvement of cognitive performances [83].…”

“…Other study showed that quercetin glycoside (rutin, isoquercitrin) was capable of antagonising the changes in the gene expression induced by 6-hydroxydopamine in PC12 cells [5]. Protection of neuronal cells from Beta amyloid toxicity has been also reported [6]. The antioxidant capacity of QR has been ascribed to the presence of two pharmacophores within the molecule that have the optimal configuration for free radical scavenging, that is, the catechol group in the B ring and the OH group at position 3 [7].…”
