The interaction between hyperons and nucleons has a wide range of applications in strangeness nuclear physics and is a topic of continuing great interest. These interactions are not only important for hyperon-nucleon scattering but also essential as basic input to studies of hyperon-nuclear fewand many-body systems including hypernuclei and neutron star matter. We review the systematic derivation and construction of such baryonic forces from the symmetries of quantum chromodynamics within non-relativistic SU(3) chiral effective field theory. Several applications of the resulting potentials are presented for topics of current interest in strangeness nuclear physics.Recently an alternative NLO χEFT potential for Y N

The in-medium properties of a baryon-baryon interaction for the strangeness S = −2 sector derived within chiral effective field theory up to next-to-leading order are investigated. The considered ΞN interaction is in line with available empirical constraints on the ΛΛ S-wave scattering length and on ΞN elastic and inelastic cross sections. In particular, there are no near-threshold bound states in the ΞN system. A conventional G-matrix calculation for this interaction is performed and reveals that the single-particle potential of the Ξ-hyperon in nuclear matter is moderately attractive as suggested by recent experimental evidence for the existence of Ξ-hypernuclei.PACS. 12.39.Fe Chiral Lagrangians -13.75.Ev Hyperon-nucleon interactions -21.30.Fe Forces in hadronic systems and effective interactions

Observation of Double-Strangeness Nuclei at J-PARC

Double-strangeness nuclei, i.e. double Λ hypernuclei and Ξ hypernuclei, are few-body nuclear systems containing two strange quarks. They are valuable information sources on the ΛΛ and Ξ N interaction, which are essential for understanding baryon-baryon interactions under the flavour SU(3) symmetry. In 2016 and 2017, we conducted the J-PARC E07 experiment to study the double-strangeness nuclei in a hadron experimental facility at J-PARC. J-PARC E07 was conducted using the emulsion-counter hybrid method; it is the most complex experiment on the double-strangeness nuclei. We completed the analysis in the first stage using the method adopted in the experimental proposal. Currently, 33 double-strangeness nucleus events have been detected, three times as much as that of the previous experiments. We succeeded in identifying the nuclide for several events. As typical events, we introduce a double Λ hypernuclei event (MINO) and three Ξ − − 14 N bound systems (IBUKI, KINKA, and IRRAWADDY) in this article.
