Quasi Z-Source Network-Based Photovoltaic Supported STATCOM for Voltage and Frequency Control of Stand-Alone WECS

Abstract: This paper proposes a control scheme that enhances both the power quality and voltage synchronization of the Self-Excited Induction Generator (SEIG) driven by a wind turbine supplying power to a remote region. A reactive power constraint of SEIG under load disturbances is balanced by a modified Second-Order Generalized Integrator (SOGI) with Fuzzy Logical Controller (FLC) controlled Quasi-Impedance (QZ) source network-based Static Compensator (STATCOM). The combination of STATCOM and the photovoltaic system, b… Show more

“…This control method enhances voltage synchronisation and power quality. To balance a reactive power challenges of SEIG under load disturbances, a modified second-order generalised integrator (SOGI) with quasi-impedance (QZ) STATCOM is employed in [24]. It has been suggested that a quasi impedance source based STATCOM with FLC will improve the active power flow.…”

“…Among all the resources, PV is the most popular because of its characteristics like easily available in worldwide, and easy to install and maintain [3]. Many governments around the world provide supports to encourage people to install PV on the roofs of their homes [4][5][6]. Moreover, some of the companies have set up solar panels for the consumption of energy and supply the energy to grid [7].…”
