Quarkonium plus prompt-photon associated hadroproduction and nuclear shadowing

Abstract: Quarkonium hadroproduction in association with a photon at high energies provides a probe of the dynamics of the strong interactions as it is dependent on the nuclear gluon distribution. Therefore, it could be used to constrain the behavior of the nuclear gluon distribution in proton-nucleus and nucleus-nucleus collisions. Such processes are useful to single out the magnitude of the shadowing/antishadowing effects in the nuclear parton densities. In this work we investigate the influence of nuclear effects in … Show more

“…For instance, the production of isolated direct photons [21] as well as inclusive hadrons [22] at RHIC and LHC can provide useful constraints on the nuclear gluon distribution 2 , even though in the latter channel the fragmentation process complicates its extraction. Another natural candidate for measuring the gluon nPDF is heavy-quark [23] or heavy-quarkonium [24] production. Quarkonium production is however still not fully under control theoretically (see e.g.…”

“…Refs. [13][14][15][16][17][18][19][20][21]), which try to help in constraining the nuclear PDFs from several observables. The variety of nuclear effects may also be relevant for gluino production, since there are contributing diagrams with both (anti)quarks and gluons in the initial state.…”
