Quantum Size Effect and Electronic Stability of Freestanding Metal Atom Wires

Abstract: Fabrication of freestanding or supported metal atom wires may offer unprecedented opportunities for investigating exotic behaviors of one-dimensional systems, including the possible existence of non-Fermi liquids.
