Quantum-Mechanical Amplification and Frequency Conversion with a Trilinear Hamiltonian

Abstract: By "filling factor" we mean the square of the atomaveraged z component of the oscillatory field divided by the square of the total rf field amplitude averaged over the cavity volume. , Phys. Rev. 141, 55 (1966).This relaxation rate is given in Refs. 3 and 4 as y& = TH = (T1) s' e -no Vr, where n is the hydrogen density, 0 is the spin-exchange cross section, and Vr is the mean relative velocity.

“…Each eigenstate of the system (17) can be represented by an m th order polynomial with coefficients ρ j (j = 1, 2, ..m.). For a particular energy, we can then construct an ODE for G(u) such that the polynomial coefficients must satisfy the recursion relations of (20). Below we outline the details of this construction.…”

“…We remark that in the limit U aa = U bb = U cc = U ab = U ac = U bc = 0, equation (1) is the Hamiltonian studied in [20,21] in the context of quantum optics. In the latter stages of the manuscript we will study this limiting case in some detail.…”
