Quantitative Evaluation of Visual Aesthetics of Human-Machine Interaction Interface Layout

Abstract: The current research on human-machine interaction interface layout focused on ergonomic analysis, while the research on aesthetics and aesthetic degree calculation of interface layout was insufficient. In order to objectively evaluate the aesthetic degree of interface layout, this paper put forward an aesthetic degree evaluation method of interface design based on Kansei engineering. Firstly, the perceptual image structure of interface aesthetic degree was analyzed from the perspective of aesthetic cognition. … Show more

“…The layout is a vital interface design feature. It is the reasonable arrangement of interface visual elements according to certain objective constraints, so as to ensure smooth communication between humans and machines (Deng and Wang, 2020 ). The general practice of measuring the aesthetics of interface layout is quantitative evaluation.…”

“…The development of the analyses will be based on the study of Xue et al (2019) [ 62 ] that established a set of norms for the evaluation of user satisfaction of using AR glasses and AR applications. Moreover, most of the studies are focused on ergonomic analysis, meanwhile, the research on the aesthetics of interface layout was insufficient as it was claimed in Deng and Wang (2020) [ 70 ]. This is one of the potentials for the future development of the described solution.…”

“…User visual experience included all aspects of the interaction between user and product. Perceived usability and aesthetics were two key aspects used to measure user visual experience [32][33][34]. Perceived usability referred to the users' subjective perception of the usability of the interface.…”
