Quantitative Evaluation of the Effects of Various Methods of Fixation on the Appearance of Stained Structures in the Bacterial Cell

Abstract: At least part of the disagreement regarding the detailed appearance and behavior of the bacterial nucleus results from the inability of bacterial cytologists to evaluate objectively the various fixation and staining techniques currently available.
