Quantitative estimation of clay minerals in airborne hyperspectral data using a calibration field

Abstract: We evaluated the opportunities and performance of a new type of systematic pixel sharp calibration site for airborne hyperspectral mineral mapping in the environment of an operational copper deposit in Mongolia. The calibration site was designed to be used for estimation of sensitivity and quantification of key minerals in individual pixels in specific geological scenarios. The layout of the calibration site was done with two different copper-containing rock samples, a low copper-containing rock material from … Show more

“…The spectral imaging technology, which is able to obtain both spatial and spectral information, was originally applied in Earth remote sensing [3]. Currently, it has been widely utilized in remote and indoor sensing, covering from Earth observation, geo-information study [4][5][6][7] to optical sorting and pharmaceutical analysis [8,9].…”

“…e area selected for the experimental site was a concrete basketball court in the city of Erdenet, Mongolia (49.03 °N/104.06425 °E) which served as a flat and homogeneous background for the experiment and it is also described in [41]. e area was divided into squares which contained the three piles of each rock type that were placed on the surface.…”
