“…The lowest values of absorbance coefficients were found for the HAs of Luvisol irrespective of the land use and for the molecules of the HAs of Chernozem sampled from the agri-ecosystem (Table 4). As reported by, e.g., Kumada (1987), Howard et al (1998), Tinoco et al (2015, and Filcheva et al (2018), lower values of absorbance and higher values of the following coefficients, A 2/4 , A 2/6 , A 4/6 , and ΔlogK, point to a chemical "young age" of HAs. Young humic acids show a lower degree of condensation of aromatic structures and a lower molecular weight, as compared with the HAs with a high degree of humification.…”

“…With the analysis of variance, it was demonstrated that the values of parameter A 4/6 and ∆logK for HAs molecules of the soils sampled from the depth of 0-10 cm were significantly higher than for the molecules of HAs of the soils sampled from the 10-20 cm layer (p = 0.015 and p = 0.024) as well as the HAs molecules of the soils sampled from the layer of 20-30 cm (p = 0.0002 and p = 0.0001) (Table 2). Drawing on literature reports [85,86], it was found that the humic acids of the soils of the layer 0-10 cm revealed a lower degree of humification as compared with the humic acids of deeper horizons. The distance factor had a significant effect on the value of spectrophotometric parameters of the HAs molecules in the soils sampled in Cegielnia and in Kamionna (Table 5).…”

“…The HAs molecules were identified with a decrease in the values of A 2/4 , A 2/6 , A 4/6 , ΔlogK with depth (Table 4). Drawing on literature reports 54,55 , it was found that the humic acids of the A horizons revealed a lower degree of humification, as compared with the humic acids of deeper horizons. The distance factor had a significant effect on the spectrophotometric parameters of the HAs molecules of the soils sampled in Cegielnia and in Kamionna.…”
