Quantitative analysis on coupling of traction current into cab signaling in electrified railways

Abstract: Cab signaling apparatus is the critical equipment for ground-vehicle communication in electrified railways. With the rapid development of high-speed and heavy-haul railways, the immunity to unbalanced traction current interference for cab signaling apparatus in the onboard train control system is increasingly demanded. This paper analyzes the interference coupling mechanism of the ZPW-2000 track circuit. Based on electromagnetic field theory and the actual working parameters, a calculation model is established… Show more

“…The signaling system within it relies on microelectronic logic circuits and control software to generate, transmit and respond to signals, making it highly sensitive to sources of strong electromagnetic interference (EMI) (e.g., traction power systems, GSM-R mobile base stations, electric locomotives, etc.) (Yang, Chen, Chen, Cui, & Tang, 2019; Liu et al. , 2020a, b; Liu et al.…”

“…The core of the EW is made of stranded copper conductor model shown in Figure 9, in the parallel approach section with a length of 100 m. (The soil environment is simulated by the filling material parameters of the region.) According to the structure and parameters of the cable and the spatial position relationship, LEF simulation is completed by drawing the system model, setting the finite element solution domain, configuring the material library, setting the solution boundary conditions of the model, setting the interference current excitation source, and dividing the grid [37][38][39].…”

“…The authors used the wavelet transform with modulus maximum to detect the transient interference in traction current and verified the compatibility between the rolling stock and the track circuit [9]. We also completed the quantitative calculation of the interference coupling of the cab signalling based on the electromagnetic field theory and proposed an indirect test method for the anti‐interference of the cab signals [10]. Then, we studied the interference mechanism of the return traction current to the track circuit apparatus and TCR in the switch section within the station and proposed a method to reduce the unbalanced traction current interference by optimising the jumper position [11].…”
