“…The assumptions for the use of this calculation have been described previously (10). Briefly, this calculation assumes that in elephant seals, as in humans, 1) the hydrolysis of triglycerides in adipose tissue is complete (9, 38), 2) mono-and diacylglyceride concentrations in adipocytes are low (1), and 3) glycolysis does not significantly contribute to glycerol flux (32).
