Quantification of Ca, K, Mg, Zn and Fe elements in grape leaves from different regions of Iraq by atomic absorption spectroscopy

Abstract: Grapes grow in various regions of Iraq, regions have been selected Baqubah, Al Khalesah, Nasiriyah and Sulaymaniyah, to determine the Ca, K, Mg, Zn, and Fe concentrations in their leaves for its nutritional importance using atomic absorption spectroscopy (A.A.S.). Two procedures were used for sample preparation (one of their new) and their accuracy data was evaluated, no significant differences at 97% level of confidence were found by comparison the dataset results for two methods. It has been found that Ca, K… Show more

“…Twentytwo physicochemical parameters (in addition to temperature and pH) were considered in this study. They include Total Dissolved Solids, Electrical Conductivity, Turbidity, cations and anions such as Calcium, Magnesium, Potassium, Sodium, Manganese, Iron, Zinc, Lead, Nickel, Chromium, Cobalt, Cadmium, Phosphorus, Nitrates and Sulphates using spectrophotometric, colorimetric and titrimetric assays [13].…”

“…The ISE method was created for the quantitative analysis of nitrate ion employing ion selective membrane, which transforms the activity of dissolved ions in each sample solution into an electrical potential [24]. For a flameless analysis, a graphite furnace and hydride generator were added to a Phoenix-986 AA (UK) spectrophotometer to conduct the AAS measurements of Fe, Mg, and K levels in trace amounts under operating conditions at 248.3, 285.2, and 766.5 nm, respectively [25].…”

“…From the perspective of the nutritional importance of vine leaves as food, various concentrations of mineral elements have been determined in vine leaf samples (K >> Mg > Ca > > Fe > Zn) in relation to the quality of the soil, irrigation method and climatic and environmental conditions [18]. The contents and profiles of minerals, fatty acids and pigments have been studied recently from the perspective of food consumption in Mediterranean diets and "green diets" by the authors of [19].…”
