“…The application of QI activities in mental health care came later in the 1950s when the American Psychiatric Association devised standards for high-quality care in psychiatric hospitals (Standards for Hospitals and Clinics, 1951). Use of QI activities to examine the effectiveness of children's mental health programs is even more recent (Nabors, Weist, Holden, & Tashman, 1999).
