“…Our study is in keeping with two of these , both of which sampled donors at similar time points. The assessment of HRQoL in this study was limited to the Physical Component Summary (PCS) score of the SF‐12 and the findings are again in keeping with those reported elsewhere . This study failed to demonstrate the 12‐month return to baseline that has been documented previously; however, our participants’ 12‐month PCS scores were not found to be statistically significantly different to their preoperative baseline.…”

“…Reasons for such deterioration might include a greater proportion of cancer and chronic conditions. Alternatively, the recovery time frame for these surgeries might be longer compared to other surgeries, as physical quality of life is known to decrease during recovery [31]. Many studies of change in quality of life after surgery currently use disease-based measures [3234].…”

“…Mental stress of kidney donors is significantly associated with donation that persists beyond the postoperative period. Female gender, positive social and/or psychiatric history, and major graft recipient complications were all significant predictors of a decline in mental health at one month post donation (11).…”
