Objetivo: verificar associação entre diabetes mellitus e doenças oculares em pessoas com deficiência visual. Método: estudo transversal com 51 pessoas com diabetes e deficiência visual, em um centro de reabilitação visual paulista, que participaram de entrevista estruturada, em 2018. Utilizou-se os testes: Kolmogorov Smirnov, Regressão de Poisson, Regressão de Logística Binária, e Correlação de Spearman. Resultados: a maioria das pessoas era cega e relatou que a retinopatia diabética, o glaucoma e a catarata foram causa da deficiência visual; com tempo de diagnóstico do diabetes acima de 109 meses. A catarata apresentou um nível de correlação baixa (r=0,280 e p=0,047), e a retinopatia diabética um nível de correlação moderada (r=0,565 e p=0,000), considerando o tempo de diagnóstico do diabetes. Conclusão: associação estatisticamente significante entre o tipo de diabetes e a retinopatia, e correlação estatisticamente significante entre o tempo de diagnóstico do diabetes, a catarata e a retinopatia diabética.

Background: Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease that cannot be cured entirely, which greatly affects the quality of life. People with diabetes mellitus will experience a negative impact on the quality of life. This is because the patient experiences changes in his life. Measuring the quality of life in diabetic patients is very important, considering that diabetes mellitus sufferers are increasing every year. The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors that affect the quality of life in patients with type 2 DM. Subjects and Method: This was a crosssectional study conducted at Dr. Moewardi Hospital, Central Java, from February to March 2020. A sample of 120 patients with type 2 DM aged >18 years were selected by simple random sampling. The dependent variable was the quality of life. The independent variables were self-care, family support, peer support, length of disease, body mass index, and education. The data were collected by questionnaire and data analysis using path analysis with Stata 13 was used to collect data. Results: Good quality of life in patient with type 2 DM improved with good self-care (b= 2.66; 95% CI= 0.38 to 4.94; p = 0.022), strong family support (b= 3.07; 95% CI= 1.09 to 5.05; p= 0.002), strong peer support (b= 3.43; 95% CI= 1.14 to 5.72; p= 0.003), time period of diagnosis time <6 years (b= -2.90; 95% CI= -5.00 to -0.78; p= 0.007), normal body mass index (b= -2.53; 95% CI= -4.57 to -0.50; p= 0.014), and education ≥senior high school (b= 2.46; 95% CI= 0.72 to 4.21; p= 0.006). Conclusion:Good quality of life in patients with type 2 DM increases with good self-care, strong family support, strong peer support, time period of diagnosis <6 years, normal body mass index, and education level ≥ senior high school.

Diabetes Melitus Tipe 2 adalah suatu kondisi ketika glukosa darah dalam tubuh tidak dikendalikan karena gangguan sensitivitas sel ? pankreas untuk menghasilkan hormon insulin. World health organization (WHO) menyatakan bahwa ada 422 juta orang di dunia yang menderita diabetes mellitus atau meningkat sekitar 8,5% pada populasi orang dewasa dan diperkirakan mencapai 2,2 juta kematian. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana karakteristik pasien dengan diabetes tipe 2 di Puskesmas Sokaraja 1 dan untuk mengetahui bagaimana hubungan kadar gula darah dengan tekanan darah pasien diabetes tipe Mellitus 2 di Puskesmas Sokaraja 1 . Metode yang digunakan analisis observasional secara perspektif dengan pendekatan cross sectional. Hasil penelitian ini yang menggunakan uji korelasi Pearson menunjukkan bahwa 46 pasien mayoritas adalah usia 51 hingga 60 (39,1%), laki-laki 13 pasien (28,3%) perempuan 33 pasien (711, 7%), lama mendiagnosa diabetes melitus besar dari 1-4 tahun (73,9%) dan ada hubungan antara kadar gula darah dengan tekanan darah dengan nilai makna 0,375.
