Quality of Care for Elderly Patients in Long-term Facility

Abstract

A number of long-term facilities in Korea have been providing long-term care to geriatric patients who were
 supported by the long-term care insurance system introduced in 2008. However, some people have made bad
 use of managing the facilities as a means of earning money instead of providing professional care services to
 geriatric patients. It was stated that the authorities of the central as well as local government and the Korean
 National Health Insurance Service, long-term care providers, the concerned parties of long-term facilities, and
 recipients of the long-term care should feel more responsible for monitoring or managing quality of care services
 than now in order to prevent lack of service quality that was providing to geriatric patients of the facilities in this editorial.
