Prefabricated construction (PC) offers advantages to the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry such as quality production, fast project completion, low waste output, high environmental sensitivity, and high security. Although PC has several advantages, knowledge gaps persist, necessitating a comprehensive bibliometric study. This research adopts a holistic bibliometric approach, combining qualitative (systematic literature review) and quantitative (bibliometric analysis) methods to assess the current state of prefabricated construction risks (PCRs) research and identify the literature trends. Unlike previous PCRs studies, our research capitalizes on the quantitative analysis capabilities of the Bibliometrix R-tool. We introduce innovative measures, such as the h-index, thematic mapping, and trend topic analysis, to deepen the understanding of the PCRs research landscape. Moreover, this study explores the intellectual structure of PCR research through keyword analysis, cluster analysis, and thematic evaluation, providing valuable insights into scientific studies, collaborations, and knowledge dissemination. In our study, following a systematic literature review to understand the existing knowledge, the R-studio Bibliometrix package is used to map the field, identify gaps in the field, and analyze the trends. This study involves a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of 150 articles in the field of PCRs, with data obtained from the Web of Science spanning from 2000 to 2023. The findings from the analyses reveal that the studies were divided into four different clusters: management, programming, logistics, and supply chain. Additionally, themes such as the integration of PC with Building Information Management (BIM), barriers, and stakeholders were also explored. The analyses indicate a growing awareness of PCRs, particularly in specific areas such as management, performance, and supply chain. This study stands out for its unique methods, analytical approach, and the use of specialized software. It provides valuable insights and suggestions for future studies.

A construção modular é uma abordagem que se caracteriza pela fabricação fora do local de componentes volumétricos pré-fabricados, com posterior transporte e montagem, no local da obra. Trata-se de uma estratégia que tem sido utilizada, nos últimos anos, como uma resposta para os cenários de escassez de mão de obra, baixa produtividade, controle de custos e prazos, entre outros. Apesar de suas vantagens, a implementação da construção modular ainda apresenta desafios, carecendo de soluções gerenciais vertedoras de sucesso. Nesse contexto, diversos estudos têm se debruçado sobre a aplicação da construção modular em diferentes segmentos da indústria (imobiliário, hospitais, habitação de interesse social, entre outros), exibindo obstáculos e possíveis soluções gerenciais a serem aplicadas. À luz destes trabalhos, o presente estudo visa apresentar uma revisão sistemática da literatura acerca dos aspectos de gestão da construção modular. Como resultado, foi possível constatar que várias ferramentas digitais e abordagens gerenciais têm sido empregadas para amparar a construção modular, frente aos obstáculos que esta indústria ainda enfrenta. Notou-se, em especial, ênfase no emprego do Lean Construction, BIM, RFID, sistemas de gestão da qualidade e análise de risco como formas de asseverar o sucesso dos projetos modulares.

In modular structures, inaccuracies of the modules superimpose over the entire structure. Depending on the placement of the modules, these inaccuracies have (different) effects on stresses and total deformations. Especially for structures with many individual modules, it is favorable to place them according to their influence. To cover structural diversity, column-, beam-, and wall-like modular structures made from plane modules are investigated. In numerical simulation, geometric inaccuracies are applied via an equivalent temperature approach, which allows almost arbitrary nodal deviations of the modules. With the elementary effects method, the sensitivities of the modules’ inaccuracies regarding their structural impact can be determined with minimal computational effort. On a predefined control node, the overall structural inaccuracies are examined in a simplified manner. Column-like structures experience higher deformations due to inclination than beam-like or wall-like structures. For column-like, the bottommost modules are decisive for the overall inaccuracy, as they contribute significantly to the inclination. By contrast, modules at the supports are identified as particularly sensitive for beam- and wall-like structures. Controlling module placement towards their mean absolute influence, the deformation at the control node is mathematically reduced by at least 43% compared to random placement. Thereby, even modules that do not comply with tolerance requirements for structural components can be used in areas of low influence for a sustainable and low-waste design.
