Abstract:The article provides a brief survey of important advances in quality control tools that are (or should be) available to practitioners using current statistical quality software tools. The tools discussed include the use of the noncentral distribution function for power and sample size, confidence intervals in measurement systems analysis, dealing with nonnormality and autocorrelation in statistical process control, and the use of genetic algorithms in the design and analysis of experiments.
